U.S. carbon emissions fell last year, EIA reports

Carbon emissions from the energy sector fell slightly in 2011, marking the fourth decline in the last six years, the Energy Department said Tuesday.

The decline of 2.4 percent last year left the nation's energy-related carbon output still below 2005 levels by 9 percent, the Energy Information Administration noted in an annual report.
