TRAIN Act is a harbinger of fights to come

Job creation is obviously a top priority of the American people, and last week's battle over the TRAIN Act exposed the very different visions of Republicans and Democrats in meeting that goal.

The legislation would kill two regulations on coal-fired power plants by President Obama's Environmental Protection Agency. Republicans and the power sector argued Washington's intrusion on the industry would put people out of work.

Obama, congressional Democrats and environmental groups countered that Republicans were sacrificing public health to court big corporations and their 2012 election money. The Democrats see government investment as the key to generating jobs.
