Obama proposes $1 billion plan to get more clean energy cars on the road
President Barack Obama on Wednesday proposed expanded tax credits for clean energy vehicles and unveiled a $1 billion "Race to the Top" program to give communities an incentive to deploy advanced energy vehicles.
“We can’t just rely on fossil fuels from the last century, we have got to continually develop new sources of energy,” Obama told workers at a Daimler truck factory in Mount Holly, N.C. “That’s why we have made investments that have nearly doubled the use of clean, renewable energies in the country, and thousands of Americans have jobs because of it.”
Visiting a key swing state, Obama repeated his criticism of Republican presidential candidates for their rhetoric on gasoline prices.
