The Interior Department announced Tuesday it had met President Barack Obama's goal of approving 10,000 megawatts of renewable power on federal lands by the end of this year.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said the milestone was achieved through the adoption of an environmental impact statement that backs the planned 3,000-megawatt Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy Project in southeastern Wyoming.
