Obama energy platform plows little new ground

President Barack Obama's calls for reduced oil imports and the creation of hundreds of thousands of natural gas jobs appear to be largely based on actions the administration and developers are already taking, according to his campaign and industry observers.
In his Democratic re-election nomination acceptance speech on Thursday, Obama called for halving the percentage of U.S. oil imports and taking steps to support 600,000 jobs in the production of natural gas, both by 2020.
