Obama calls for halving oil imports, boosting natural gas jobs

President Barack Obama plans to call in his nomination acceptance speech Thursday night for the nation by 2020 to halve oil imports and for natural gas production to support 600,000 new jobs.

In advance excerpts of the speech issued by his campaign, Obama stresses that it will take a long-term effort to fix the ailing economy.
