New Keystone XL Nebraska route starts latest reviews

TransCanada on Wednesday proposed its latest route through Nebraska for the controversial Keystone XL oil sands crude pipeline, saying it had avoided the sensitive Sandhills region. But project opponents quickly condemned the revisions as inadequate.

The Canadian company is to follow up with an environmental report to the State Department by Friday as part of its bid for a federal cross-border permit, which President Barack Obama denied last January because the Nebraska section was not finalized.
