EPA rejects oil industry's request to waive 2011 biofuels mandate

The oil industry on Friday criticized the Environmental Protection Agency after the agency refused to waive a biofuels mandate that industry officials said could not be met.

The American Petroleum Institute and the American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers said EPA incorrectly required refiners to buy credits last year in lieu of blending into gasoline cellulosic ethanol that was not available.
