President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney drew sharp contrasts Friday on coal-based energy, using the courts and the campaign trail to advocate vastly different approaches.
Romney took to southwestern Virginia to court voters fearing the loss of their mining jobs to new regulations and cheap natural gas, while the Obama administration appealed a court ruling that had thrown out one of its top coal-related air pollution regulations.
