Energy Department approves conditional LNG export permit

The Obama administration on Friday ended months of speculation about its energy export stance by granting the first new natural gas export authorization in two years, with more decisions expected in the coming months.

The Energy Department approved Freeport LNG's export of 1.4 billion cubic feet of natural gas a day to non-Free Trade Agreement countries from its terminal at Quintana Island, Texas.
