Natural gas lobbyist Hassenboehler named House Energy and Power counsel

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton on Thursday tapped a top natural gas industry lobbyist -- and former aide to global warming skeptic Sen. James Inhofe -- as lead counsel on the  Energy and Power Subcommittee.

Tom Hassenboehler will leave his post as vice president of policy development and legislative affairs at America's Natural Gas Alliance to take the post. He will succeed the outgoing subcommittee counsel Maryam Brown, who was hired by House Speaker John Boehner as his energy policy advisor.
