API calls on Jewell to make fracking reg deals with states

Officials at the American Petroleum Institute on Thursday renewed their call for the Interior Department to turn to states to regulate hydraulic fracturing on public lands.

Interior Secretary Sally Jewell has said revised draft rules for natural gas drilling on Bureau of Land Management leases will be made public within weeks. Leaked drafts have indicated the department is seeking to address industry calls for less intrusive rules on well integrity, chemical disclosure and waste fluids disposal.
